Job Summary:

The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring that all testing is performed accurately and efficiently. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with various departments and teams within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and staff, ensuring that all laboratory services are delivered in a timely and professional manner.

• Personnel Management: Supervise and manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating employees. Ensure that all staff members are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.

• Capital and Operating Expense: Collaborate with administration and finance to prepare annual budgets and ensure that expenses are managed within established fiscal year budgets. Review and analyze laboratory testing rates and procedure codes to optimize revenue and reduce costs.

• Performance Improvement and Quality Management: Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to ensure that laboratory services meet or exceed regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Monitor and analyze laboratory performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

• Compliance: Ensure that all laboratory operations are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. Collaborate with other departments to ensure that laboratory services are integrated with other hospital services and that all regulatory requirements are met.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent degree required.

• 3-5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist, MLS, CLS, or equivalent required.

• 2-3 years of supervisory experience required.

• 10 years or greater as a Medical Technologist, MLS, CLS, or equivalent preferred.

• Multi-hospital system experience may be preferred in some regions.

• Registered as MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) or CLS(AMT) or equivalent required.

• Licensure as Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) if required by State.
