Electrical Distribution Systems Specialist

- At M.C. Dean, we are committed to delivering exceptional electrical distribution systems solutions. As an Electrical Distribution Systems Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our team's success.
- This position involves leading and performing inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and start-up of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers.
- You will contribute to a safe working environment for co-workers and customers and help ensure the overall success of projects. Local, regional, and national travel is required, and international travel is preferred.
- The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Performing acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution systems and equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
- Conducting insulation resistance testing, power factor testing, contact resistance testing, and other tests in accordance with NETA standards.
- Analyzing test results to determine the condition of equipment and recommending corrective actions if needed.
- Having a strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems, including experience with transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
- Being proficient in using electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, power factor meters, contact resistance testers, and relay test sets.
- Having knowledge of NETA standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety regulations.
- Coordinating, leading, and supporting multiple projects both onsite and in-house utilizing various company software systems, reviewing and maintaining job documentation, and ensuring completeness of information from receipt of order to invoice.
- Performing testing of low and medium voltage cables, instrument and power transformers, switchgear, breakers, electro-mechanical and solid-state relays, and other electrical apparatus.
- Containing material costs by eliminating wasteful practices and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Rotating emergency on-call duty and responding to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
- Promoting an attitude of continuous improvement and teamwork.
The following are the minimal position and candidate requirements:
- 9+ years of experience with a High School Diploma/GED.
- Electronics installation and/or maintenance on multiple systems.
- Using trade drawings: architectural, electrical, mechanical, and civil to identify potential design and installation problems.
- Knowledge of industry standards including sections of NETA ATS/MTS, NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.
- One or more of the following is preferred:
- OEM certified field service training program.
- Certifications (desired/advantageous): NETA level III, or IV preferred.

The abilities required for this position include:
- Lifting at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
- Relocating a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Working at various heights up to 60 feet and climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
- Walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Having good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
- Telling when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Applying general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Combining pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
- Seeing details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
