In-House Counsel, Sports and Entertainment Law

The Counsel will report to the President of REV Entertainment and provide business-focused legal advice to stakeholders across the Company. The Counsel's primary focus will center on complex commercial contracts drafting and negotiation related to sports and entertainment events and acquisitions and other transactional matters related thereto, including, but not limited to, sponsorships, license and use agreements, venue management and operations, technology, and corporate governance.
Essential Functions of Position- Provide legal advice to executive and senior management on a broad range of legal matters, commercial contracts, and complex transactions.
- Proven ability to identify emerging risks and trends, analyze and think strategically about complex risk issues and deliver solutions-oriented advice to mitigate or manage such risks.
- Support the Company and its subsidiaries and affiliates with respect to complex venue management and operations matters for large-scale events.
- Assist the President in corporate governance and compliance matters as they arise.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact with executive management, senior management, and all Company employees.
- Conduct legal research as necessary, and proactively stay abreast of developments in applicable municipal, state, and federal laws.
- Promote continual development, optimization, and implementation of contracts creation and legal review processes and standards to maximize efficiency.
- Strong negotiation skills and excellent independent analytical judgment.
- Work with outside counsel and other advisors and opposing counsel as necessary.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Self-motivated and regularly works with minimal direction.
- Adept in managing multiple tasks with competing priorities, both simultaneously and efficiently.
- Great attention to detail.
- Respond well to coaching and supervision.
- Actively demonstrate teamwork at all times.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours and be available as necessary.
- BA/BS degree and JD degree from an accredited ABA institution.
- Admission to Texas Bar (or ability to gain admission).
- Minimum of 2 years of successful transactional experience at a law firm or as an in-house counsel supporting companies in the sports and/or entertainment industries.
- Experience in venue management and operations preferred.
- Experience in handling sponsorship and license and use agreements preferred.
- Ability to work independently with limited oversight, but comfortable working collaboratively with internal and external parties when called upon.
- Positive attitude with a desire to tackle unique and a wide range of projects.
- Advanced skills in MS Office, especially MS Word and its redline functions.
- Familiarity using NetDocs, ContractWorks, and Box preferred.
