Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Store Manager with all responsibilities related to the Produce department.
  • Manage customer service, inventory management, ordering, receiving, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Conduct training for Produce department staff, ensuring adherence to organic standards and best practices in handling and displaying products.
  • Support the Store Manager in maintaining profit margins and managing costs effectively.
  • Ensure freshness and quality of products through proper handling, storage, and rotation.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that prioritizes quality service and product excellence.
  • Work with the Merchandise department to develop unique seasonal offerings and promotions.
  • Create and manage work schedules while complying with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Encourage a positive workplace culture characterized by teamwork and respect.
  • Address customer inquiries and complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about new products and incorporate them into the department's offerings.
  • Assist in safety training and compliance with health regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to adapt to various store environments during training.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management, with a focus on training and development.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within a produce department of a mid to large-scale market.
  • Strong knowledge of produce handling, seasonality, and inventory management.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills for inventory and financial management.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
