Hometown Organizing Project is seeking a skilled Social Impact Specialist to join our team. As a Social Impact Specialist, you will drive our ongoing Climate Protection Project in Tallapoosa County, working closely with all members of staff as part of the Organizing Team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build a base of small town and rural people impacted by or at risk of experiencing climate disasters through direct community outreach and team-building.
  • Collaborate with local team to ratify and coordinate ongoing action that supports the team and organization's goals and outcomes.
  • Help plan quarterly statewide membership meetings, including turning out members of the CPP team, coordinating leadership opportunities, and facilitating relationship-building between leaders across geographies and program areas.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of community organizing experience, including conducting 1-to-1s, identifying self-interest, propositioning leaders into roles, and developing or managing teams.
  • Experience and self-interest in building relationships with diverse groups of people to attain common goals.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.

Salary: $24-27/hour commensurate with experience. Benefits include use of organizational Credit Card for approved purchases, phone and internet stipend, organizational laptop provided.
