Job Title: Senior Thermal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Thermal Engineer to join our Mixed Reality Team at Microsoft Corporation.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will design thermal solutions for Mixed Reality devices, leveraging expertise in thermal simulation and experimental validation. This role requires a strong understanding of thermal architectures, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and mechanical engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop thermal architectures and designs for Mixed Reality devices
  • Perform CFD simulation and calculations to accurately predict thermal behavior of electronic assemblies
  • Validate models and verify requirements are met at component, module, and system levels
  • Lead thermal design cross-functionally and influence mechanical integration and product design decisions
  • Communicate status and results to cross-functional teams and management
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of related technical engineering experience, or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in using software such as FloEFD for CFD simulation and calculations
  • Ability to meet Microsoft's security screening requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of related technical engineering experience, or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience
  • Experience in using Design of Experiments and statistical analysis of experimental data
  • Proficiency in FloEFD and experience in solving Structural and Moisture Ingress problems using CFD, FEA, and materials engineering
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying System Engineering principles to design a robust Thermal System
Benefits and Compensation:

Microsoft offers a competitive salary range of $117,200 - $229,200 per year, with additional benefits and compensation for certain roles.
