Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Summit Orthopedics. As a Physician Assistant, you will work closely with our orthopedic surgeons to diagnose and treat patients with arthritis conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function as first or second assist in the operating room, including performing surgical exposure, surgical dissections, and layer closure of wounds.
  • Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems, responding to emergencies including use of CPR.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning, skin preparation, administration of local anesthetic, and equipment preparation.
  • Conduct physical exams, taking medical history, image interpretation, and patient evaluation/care.
  • Consult with physicians as needed and refer to physicians for more complicated cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA's scope of work.
  • Order diagnostic tests and scans and prescribe medications.
  • Administer injections, participate in suture and dressing removal, and manage simple fracture management/cast application and removal.
  • Counsel patients/family on preventive health care, including pre- and post-operative education.
  • Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Masters of Physician Assistant degree (required)
  • Licensed as a PA in the state of Minnesota (preferred)
  • Certified Physician Assistant (required)
  • Basic Life Support (required)
