Job Summary

As an Orthopedic Assistant Therapist at Orthopedic One, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of our experienced Physical Therapists. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers, and students in the department.

Key Responsibilities

Treatment Quality
  • Ensure that Physical Therapy Practices are consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and Standards of Practice policy in this manual.
  • Treat patients of all ages, race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice.
  • Demonstrate respect and understanding of the patient's right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisions.

Maintain a level of care consistent with the plan of care in regards to specific therapeutic or manual interventions along with other modalities deemed appropriate for the patient by the supervising Physical Therapist.

Confers with the Physical Therapist most closely associated with the active management of the patient to keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modification, and/or progress.


Treatment Quantitative
Maintain a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department/facility.
Practice caseload management as it pertains to NS, CXL and reschedules including communication with supervising Physical Therapist. Follows Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist including appropriate frequency, progressions, and interventions.
Billing/CPT or RVU matches the time spent with patient, within department standards.

Records and Reports
Prepare and submit department/facility reports, assuring confidentiality of all records:
Complete Discharge reports/summaries in conjunction with supervising Physical Therapist.
Assist supervising Physical Therapists in the completion of Progress Notes and communication with referring physicians and agencies.
Daily notes completed in a timely fashion while supporting medical necessity
Special reports as requested by the Director and or Manager

Professional Status and Public Relations
Maintain current professional knowledge of techniques and trends
Attend continuing education, meetings, or special courses whenever possible and share gained information with the department/facility personnel.
Prepare and present educational presentations to community groups as requested.
Maintain positive public relations with all community sources.

TEAMWORK

Teamwork
Willingly provide coverage, volunteer assistance, and maintain workflows within department as needed without direct instruction/supervision.
Work cooperatively and refrain from participating in negative conversations.
Share knowledge and insights with co-workers in a constructive manner.
Work to solve problems and address conflicts with appropriate person directly before involving leadership or uninvolved peers.

Be considerate of others in the work environment with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and phone, noise level in the department, etc.

Policies and Procedures

Know and comply with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.

Provide assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.

Actively participate in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, Certification and Licensure Requirements

Must be a graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program with a preferred minimum of two (2) years orthopedic department/facility experience, however new graduates with orthopedic clinical experience are encouraged to apply.

Must have, or be eligible for, State Licensure or Registration. Registration must be obtained within one (1) year, or as per state law. Must maintain and provide verification card for CPR certification including BLS/AED training.
