Job Summary:

As a Certified Surgical Technician at SightMD, you will play a vital role in ensuring quality patient care during operative procedures. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a sterile environment will be essential in providing exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physician providers in the sterile surgical operating room, utilizing training techniques and under the direction of the physician.
  • Collect, verify, and prepare necessary supplies, equipment, instruments, medications, and solutions for each surgical procedure.
  • Assist with draping and establishing the sterile field, securing tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.
  • Prepare and anticipate additional instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure.
  • Measure and pass medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions used during the procedure.
  • Hold retractors or instruments as delegated by the surgeon, sponge or suction the operative site as delegated by the surgeon, load, cut, and manage sutures.
  • Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure, clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization, and close out the room, re-stock, and fill the rooms with enough surgical packs for the following days' procedures.
  • Perform quality control inspection of instruments, ensuring there are no damages to the integrity, and participate in special projects and other duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) Certification from an accredited school.
  • One or more years of related work experience in an operating room preferred.
  • Membership in a surgical specialty society encouraged.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a high-stress environment.
