Key Responsibilities- Provides exceptional customer service to patients and guests, ensuring a positive experience in the ambulatory setting.
- Performs patient registration activities, confirming identity and providing necessary information related to their visit.
- Completes check-in/out functions as directed, ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient information.
- Obtains and updates required patient information, including patient identification, demographic information, and verifying insurance information.
- Obtains patient consents/authorizations, ensuring they are within the past 12 months and the insurance card is current.
- Answers phone calls and schedules appointments, providing excellent communication and coordination with patients and staff.
- Coordinates scheduling of outside testing for patients, ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Directs and documents patient calls as appropriate, maintaining accurate records and communication.
- Collects co-payments, outstanding balances, and point-of-service payments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Keeps waiting areas clean and comfortable, maintaining a positive and welcoming environment.
- Informs patients of any delays or changes in appointment status, escalating to leadership excessive wait times.
- Serves as a liaison between patients and practice, other departments, and referring physicians, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Performs all aspects of daily work in a manner that contributes to and ensures an environment of patient safety and confidentiality.
- Responds to all medical record requests from patients, insurance companies, physician offices, subpoenas, and legal requests per protocol.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- One to three years prior healthcare setting experience preferred, including but not limited to customer service-related roles.
- Experience in oncology and radiation oncology preferred.
- Medical office coding preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
