Job Overview

Position: Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual to enhance our information security initiatives.

The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) acts as the key consultant on all aspects of system security. The ISSO is tasked with guaranteeing the application and upkeep of security measures in line with the security strategy and applicable security regulations.

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours weekly

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, availability required from 8am to 5pm

Compensation: $135,000 to $140,000 annually

Location: Washington, DC Metropolitan area (remote work options may be available)

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Eligibility to obtain a DHS security clearance is required.
  • CISSP certification is mandatory.
  • A bachelor's degree is essential.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience within the last seven (7) years is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the proposal, coordination, implementation, and enforcement of information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Maintain the operational security posture for an information system or program to ensure compliance with established security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in managing the security aspects of the information system and oversee daily security operations.
  • Evaluate security solutions to ensure they fulfill security requirements for handling classified information.
  • Conduct vulnerability and risk assessment analyses to aid in certification and accreditation processes.
  • Provide configuration management (CM) for information system security software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Manage system changes and assess their security implications.
  • Prepare and review documentation, including Systems Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages, and System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs).
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

A background check is necessary to obtain a security clearance.
