Senior Clinical Risk Consultant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Clinical Risk Consultant to join our team at Physicians Insurance. As a national boutique mutual insurance company, we are dedicated to protecting, defending, and supporting our Members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk evaluations and onsite risk assessments for assigned accounts, analyzing systems and processes in complex environments and recommending actions for improvement.
  • Consult on risk management issues via telephone, email, and/or in person, providing risk consultation to internal and external customers by conducting research and engaging subject matter experts as necessary.
  • Lead and/or participate in Risk Management projects to meet emerging risk management trends and/or meet department goals.
  • Develop risk management content, educational offerings, and programs on current and relevant risk-related topics, continually reviewing and updating content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Develop and deliver account-specific educational offerings and programs based on Risk Assessment outcomes or identified needs, collaborating with Risk Management Services Coordinator to facilitate service offerings.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments to determine areas of risk with existing and/or new accounts, participating in developing and implementing interventions to mitigate risk exposure.
  • Maintain active knowledge and expertise in current risk management issues and trends, demonstrated by participating in continuing educational opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Active RN license required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Five plus years of risk management experience in a clinical setting, including a hospital or multi-specialty health system environment.
  • A valid driver's license required with the ability to travel up to 50% to assigned accounts and other locations as necessary.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills and demonstrated knowledge of medical malpractice insurance, patient safety, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated technical ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and quality improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
