Job Description:

The Senior Clinical Risk Consultant is responsible for providing ongoing risk management support to assigned account types, including physicians, clinics, hospitals, and multi-specialty health systems. This role involves conducting risk evaluations and assessments, developing relevant risk management content, and driving change to reduce risk exposures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct risk evaluations and onsite risk assessments for assigned accounts.
  • Analyze systems and processes in complex environments and recommend actions for improvement for account-specific risk management plans.
  • Consult on risk management issues via telephone, email, and in-person.
  • Provide risk consultation to internal and external customers by conducting research and engaging subject matter experts.
  • Lead and participate in risk management projects to address emerging risk management trends and meet department goals.
  • Develop and maintain educational content and programs on risk-related topics, ensuring accuracy and relevance per department guidelines.
  • Create and deliver account-specific educational offerings and programs based on risk assessment outcomes or identified needs.
  • Work with other internal departments to identify and mitigate risk in existing and new accounts.
  • Attend risk management department meetings and represent the department at organizational meetings as assigned.
  • Stay current on risk management issues and trends through continuing education opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Active RN license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • 5+ years of risk management experience in a clinical setting, including a hospital or multi-specialty health system environment.
  • Valid driver's license required, with the ability to travel up to 50% to assigned accounts and other locations as necessary to accomplish department goals.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with demonstrated knowledge of medical malpractice insurance, patient safety, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and quality improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Associate in Risk Management, or other related certification (preferred).
