About the Role

The Process Engineer will work under the Engineering and Maintenance Manager to optimize existing processes and clean-in-place systems using continuous improvement tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects to improve equipment cleanliness, debottleneck processes, increase throughput, reduce waste, and decrease costs using continuous improvement tools.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to detail operations of new equipment or revise SOPs to reflect changes to operations as a result of modifications to existing equipment.
  • Develop capacity models for existing processing lines and identify bottlenecks that restrict capacity, suggesting projects to improve capacity on the line.
  • Create capital proposals, including scope documents, cost estimates, and timeliness for management review and approval.
  • Manage projects to meet all technical requirements.
  • Develop project specifications and systems, making calculations, preparing process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation drawings (PIDs), site and floor plans.
  • Lead the selection of contractors/vendors and supervise their design and specifications of installations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new or existing systems.
  • Assist in training Production Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Operators in the proper operation of equipment and prepare various instruction manuals.
  • Assist in revising Standard Manufacturing Procedures (SMPs).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Oversee entire project resource base, including internal and external engineering and construction firms.
  • Four-year college or university program degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or food processing).
  • Significant broad-based project management experience (at least one project over $5m).
  • Understanding of where to spend engineering dollars and how to manage internal/external engineering resources.
  • Background in food processing, including sanitary factory/process design.
  • Strong process improvement background with at least 5 years direct process improvement experience in the food industry.
  • Experience with a food equipment manufacturing company is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical hiring range for this role is $73,758 to $108,755 annually, based on several factors, including education, work experience, certifications, and location. Kerry offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and retirement contribution.
