We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Animal Enrichment Specialist to join our team at Tulane University.

Job Description

The Laboratory Animal Enrichment Specialist will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing enrichment techniques to enhance the welfare of nonhuman primates and other laboratory animal species. This will involve organizing and performing technical duties, such as preparing and distributing enrichment materials, devices, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively, as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement enrichment techniques to improve the welfare of laboratory animals
  • Organize and perform technical duties, such as preparation and distribution of enrichment materials
  • Collect observational data for behavioral studies
  • Perform positive reinforcement training
  • Determine potential social partners for nonhuman primates and facilitate introductions
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 2 years of experience in laboratory animal care. Alternatively, you may have certification as an AALAS LAT with 4 years of experience in laboratory animal care or 6 years of experience in laboratory animal care without certification.

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year
