Job Summary

The Senior Director, Custom Thermal Solutions will lead the development and execution of Vertiv's custom thermal business strategy globally. This role will be a key part of the Thermal line of business senior leadership team, responsible for driving the custom thermal business strategy and execution worldwide.

This position will have high visibility globally and will be a key interface with regional teams to drive product strategy, roadmap, and sales enablement for the custom thermal business.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of relevant business experience in leading a product business segment with engineering and product management reports globally. Experience in the custom air handling business is a plus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the custom thermal strategy and business plan in cooperation with regional teams. They will also be responsible for managing OPEX and CAPEX budget for the custom thermal COE team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing the custom thermal strategy and business plan
  • Managing OPEX and CAPEX budget for the custom thermal COE team
  • Working with product and regional teams to develop 3-year revenue plan
  • Quarterly regional interlocks to ensure alignment on priorities, resource needs, product launch, and control
  • Developing and managing sales enablement tools to support the custom thermal business
  • Ensuring timely execution of new capabilities and customer projects on budget and hit product cost targets
  • Understanding competition and differentiation of Vertiv Solutions
  • Developing tools for sales to support selling against competition
  • Understanding overall custom thermal market size globally, Vertiv share, and opportunities to drive growth for the custom thermal business
  • Collecting inputs from regional teams on market trends, opportunities, and customer needs as a key input into overall roadmap, product requirements, and overall strategy
  • Investigating and recommending new technologies or new market opportunities and serving as product visionary to drive game-changing products, strategy, and direction
  • Furthering the advancement, functionality, and manufacturability of existing products
  • Ensuring Product Development activity is in line with the strategy and direction of the business
  • Regularly presenting the status of products and programs at quarterly team updates and executive business reviews

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

  • Agility: the acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously managing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands on the operations
  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to bring structure to ill-defined problems and intellectual leadership to problem-solving; synthesizing insights from analysis and ensuring credible, actionable recommendations
  • Communications Skills: Ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas persuasively; ability to manage situations including senior leaders and external groups
  • Strategic Thinking: Evaluating trends, developing long-term implications, and recommending pragmatic strategies for continuous improvement and new opportunities
  • Customer Focus: Work well with sales teams and customers to understand opportunities and latent needs to drive opportunities for innovation and differentiation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree; 5+ years financial and business leadership experience. Master's Degree in business administration (MBA) preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant business experience in leading a product business segment with engineering and product management reports globally. Ideally in the custom air handling business.
  • Experience developing product strategy, roadmaps, positioning, and messaging globally.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Ability to research, classify, prioritize requirements, communicate among stakeholders, and present ideas in an easily comprehensible manner.
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills - ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment while managing associated stress.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information.
