Youth Care Worker

The Youth Care Worker is a critical member of our team at United Methodist Children's Home, responsible for providing nurturing, direct care, and supervision of residents in a group home environment. This role requires a high level of emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and educational needs of each resident are met.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care and supervision to residents, including transportation to school, appointments, and recreational activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
- Administer medication to residents as prescribed by medical professionals.
- Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals for residents.
- Abide by the UMCH Behavior Management Policy, which prohibits harsh or corporal punishment.
- Provide Basic Living Skills training to residents, as outlined in the Alabama Medicaid Manual Chapter 105 and individual treatment plans.
- Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement strategies for handling stressful and emergency situations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents.
- High school graduate or equivalent certification (GED).
- 6 months of paid experience working in a residential or environment with youth and/or families.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Physical ability to participate in various activities with residents.
- Proficiency in computer use and understanding of basic word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills that allow for professional interaction with staff, stakeholders, and the general public.
- Valid driver's license from state of residence.
- Proof of automobile liability insurance and driving record that will allow coverage on Agency's insurance policy.
- Satisfactory background check, including employment and personal references, criminal history, driving background, Child Abuse & Neglect Registry, and pre-employment physical examination, including TB skin test and drug screen.
