Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities will encompass:
  • Animal restraint and triage of incoming patients.
  • Collection and analysis of laboratory samples.
  • Diagnostic imaging and management of medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administration of medications and effective communication of treatment plans to clients.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance, along with anesthetic management.

Candidates must be prepared to handle unpleasant odors and noises, and may encounter bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We seek individuals who possess:
  • A strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Punctuality and readiness to work.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician certification; 1+ year of experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Weekend availability.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and precise communication abilities.
  • Capability to interpret medical records and accurately document client histories.
  • Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital operations.
  • Ability to safely and effectively restrain animals.
  • Proficiency in sample collection, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin samples.
  • Skills in laboratory sample setup and processing.
  • Expertise in positioning and capturing radiographs, with dental radiography experience as a plus.
  • Competence in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
  • A self-motivated attitude with a desire for continuous learning and skill enhancement.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally to enhance hospital efficiency.

Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Confidence around various animal species.
  • Flexibility to work beyond 40 hours per week when necessary.
  • Capability to perform essential duties with mental acuity in reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language.
  • Moderately high noise levels in the work environment; earplugs available upon request.
  • Physical ability to perform required tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for operating equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception.
  • Exposure to a variety of animals and potential hazards associated with veterinary care.
