Program Overview:

Join the American Medical Response (AMR) team in a transformative journey to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). This comprehensive training program is designed for individuals eager to embark on a fulfilling career in emergency medical services.

Location: Washington, DC

Compensation: Starting pay at $17.50 per hour for students.

Application Process: Interested candidates are encouraged to apply, with a focus on residents of Washington, DC.

Program Details:

This rigorous 16-week academy is sponsored by AMR and offers a unique opportunity to gain essential skills and knowledge required for EMT certification. Participants will receive training while being employed by AMR, ensuring a supportive learning environment.

What is an EMT?

An Emergency Medical Technician plays a crucial role in providing immediate medical care and safe transportation for patients in urgent situations. EMTs are trained to perform essential interventions using basic medical equipment and act as a vital link between patients and the healthcare system.

Training Structure:

The program includes:

  • In-person classes held Monday through Friday, typically from 9 AM to 6 PM.
  • Comprehensive training covering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Preparation for the District of Columbia psychomotor and National Registry of EMT cognitive exams.

Candidate Requirements:

To qualify for this program, candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Provide proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Complete all necessary immunizations.
  • Pass pre-employment screenings, including background checks and physical assessments.

Post-Completion Opportunities:

Upon successful completion of the training program and certification exams, participants will transition into full-time EMT positions with AMR, receiving a competitive compensation package and benefits, including:
