In this critical position, a Principal Site Reliability Engineer for Database Technologies will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and visibility of highly available, mission-critical database systems and applications.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and implement solutions to facilitate database system stability and scalability.
- Work with database architecture and standards owners to assess customer requirements against existing implementation patterns and assess compatible solutions against availability objectives.
- Develop and maintain detailed capacity and performance reporting and forecasts in collaboration with the capacity planning team and stakeholders.
- Formulate and drive action plans to prevent potential issues or mitigate active risks.
- Generate structured reports on the health of the database ecosystem for an executive audience.
- Assess emerging technologies for their capabilities and implications on the ecosystem to proactively resolve any problems involved in their integration.
- Maintain business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with technical engineering teams to manage and improve processes, automating wherever possible.
- Subject matter expert level of understanding of Oracle Database 12c/19c/23c and replication products (Golden Gate, Dataguard).
- Strong understanding of NoSQL and PostgreSQL databases with hands-on experience preferred.
- Experience assessing application and business requirements to inform infrastructure and/or deployment topology selection.
- Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives, often partnering with internal customers across technology verticals, expected to provide project direction and bring solutions to advanced technical challenges.
- Operational experience running highly available and mission-critical platforms requiring 4x9s or better availability.
- Track record bringing automated solutions to bear on large-scale environments with a wide range of technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure without direct supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and work with a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
- Strong people skills and the ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, organization, project prioritization, and time management skills.
- Experience working in a global organization is desirable with occasional flexibility in working hours needed to enable collaboration with teams in other geographies.
