About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Oracle DBA to join our team. As a key member of our Site Reliability Engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and visibility of our highly available, mission-critical database systems and applications.

You will work closely with our customers to understand their requirements and implement solutions to meet their needs. This will involve liaising with database architecture and standards owners to assess customer requirements against existing implementation patterns and assessing compatible solutions against availability objectives.

Additionally, you will work with our capacity planning team and stakeholders to maintain detailed capacity and performance reporting and forecasts. You will also formulate and drive action plans to prevent potential issues or mitigate active risks.

As a Principal Oracle DBA, you will be responsible for generating structured reports on the health of the database ecosystem for an executive audience. You will also assess new technologies as they emerge and impact our environment, proactively resolving any problems involved in their integration.

Finally, you will maintain business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility and work with technical engineering teams to manage and improve processes, automating wherever possible.

About You
  • Subject matter expert level of understanding of Oracle Database 12c/19c/23c and replication products (Golden Gate, Dataguard)
  • Strong understanding of NoSQL and PostgreSQL databases with hands-on experience preferred
  • Experience assessing application and business requirements to inform infrastructure and/or deployment topology selection
  • Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives, often partnering with internal customers across technology verticals
  • Operational experience running highly available and mission-critical platforms requiring 4x9s or better availability
  • Track record bringing automated solutions to bear on large-scale environments with a wide range of technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure without direct supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and work with a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance
  • Strong people skills and the ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, organization, project prioritization, and time management skills
  • Experience working in a global organization is desirable with occasional flexibility in working hours needed to enable collaboration with teams in other geographies
