Salary: $83,000 - $110,000 per year, Relocation Assistance up to $8,000 available for qualified candidates.

We are seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team at Duke Children's Hospital, located within Duke University Hospital. This position requires excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a background in respiratory care and experience working with pediatric patients. A strong understanding of pharmacological indications, dosages, and responses to adverse drug reactions is essential. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records is also crucial.

  • Administer oxygen, aerosolized medication via Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB), Intermittent Aerosol Therapy (IAT), and Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) and incentive breathing devices.
  • Perform nasotracheal and artificial airway suctioning, CPR, and bag-mask ventilation, pulse oximetry monitoring, arterial blood gas punctures, and bedside pulmonary mechanics.
  • Conduct diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures, pulmonary function studies, EKGs, and cardiac monitoring.

A minimum of a 2-year AMA-approved associate's degree or equivalent program is required. Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and registration as an RRT are also necessary. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain annual skill maintenance requirements, adhere to all infectious disease standards, and provide education to patients, families, physicians, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team.
