Job Summary

Duke Health is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team. As a critical care respiratory specialist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures in neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations.

This is a dynamic role that requires proficiency in mechanical ventilator modalities, including NPPV, CPAP, and BiPAP. You will also be responsible for evaluating appropriateness of medical orders, serving as a member of the code/emergency team, and administering medical gases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures in accordance with physician orders.
  • Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities, including NPPV, CPAP, and BiPAP.
  • Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders and make decisions accordingly.
  • Serve as a member of the code/emergency team and administer medical gases as needed.
  • Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilation or airway protection.
  • Interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program.
  • Minimum three years of experience in clinical respiratory therapy, including one year in intensive care respiratory therapy.
  • Advanced certification required within two years of hire.
Certifications and Licensure
  • North Carolina State Licensure.
  • Registry (RRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
