The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Child and Family Worker to join our Adoption team. The successful candidate will make a positive contribution to the delivery of a high-quality service, supporting prospective adopters, children, and their families throughout the adoption process.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice and guidance to prospective adopters, ensuring they have access to necessary training and support.
- Guide applicants through required checks and references, and self-assessment tasks ahead of starting their Stage 2 assessment with an Adoption Social Worker.
- Support adoptive parents and their child's first family to remain connected, following the making of an Adoption Order.
- Organize and run pre-school groups for parents and their children, and other events to support adoptive families.
Requirements
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to present information clearly and successfully persuade others to take a specific course of action.
- Analysis and interpretation skills to manage casework and put in practice a range of interventions to support the children and families in your care.
- Knowledge and understanding of children and young people and age-appropriate behaviour.
- Experience of providing advice and guidance to others.
- Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and building relationships.
- Engage and empower the children and families you are supporting to gain the best outcomes.
- Prioritize and manage your workload and maintain accurate records.
- Sound and accurate IT skills to enable report writing amongst other written communications.
