Intensive Care Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intensive Care Registered Nurse to join our team at St. James Hospital. As a critical care nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the growth and success of our healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Monitoring and Assessment: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and conditions, assessing their progress and response to treatments and medications.
- Medical Procedures and Interventions: Perform complex medical procedures, such as inserting intravenous lines, administering medications, and managing ventilators, while assisting in specialized procedures like intubations, arterial lines, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate care with other healthcare team members, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, while communicating effectively with patients' families to provide updates and support.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and preferences within the healthcare team, ensuring patients receive appropriate care and treatment based on their condition and medical history.
- Education and Support: Educate patients and families about their conditions, medications, and treatment plans, providing emotional support and counseling during stressful times.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patients' conditions, treatments, and progress, adhering to hospital policies and procedures regarding documentation and patient confidentiality.
- Critical Thinking and Decision-Making: Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize tasks and make decisions quickly in emergency situations, evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjusting care plans as needed.
- Safety and Infection Control: Follow strict protocols for infection control and patient safety, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with advances in critical care nursing through continuing education and training, participating in quality improvement initiatives and research projects within the ICU.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Work effectively in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment, adapting to changes in patient load, staffing, and clinical needs of the unit.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Current NYS Registered Nurse Licensure
- 1 year of emergency or intensive care unit experience preferred
- Current qualifications in ACLS and BLS preferred
Hourly Wage: $33.67-$39.67
