Job Title: Senior Survey Technician

At NV5, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Survey Technician to join our team. As a key member of our surveying department, you will play a critical role in supporting surveying and mapping activities by providing technical expertise in an office setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Data Processing: Process raw survey data collected in the field, including GPS, total station, and laser scanning data, to create accurate survey maps and drawings.
  • Quality Control: Review and verify survey data to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • CAD and GIS Software: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software to generate maps, drawings, and reports based on survey data.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of survey data, reports, and project documentation for future reference and project archives.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with surveyors and field crews to provide technical support and guidance on survey-related issues.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and calibration of survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Data Management: Organize and manage survey data files, ensuring data security and accessibility.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with project managers, surveyors, and other team members to report progress and address data-related concerns.
  • Training: Provide training and mentorship to junior survey technicians and office staff as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field preferred).
  • Experience: Several years of experience in survey data processing and office operations.
  • Skills: Proficiency in CAD and GIS software, such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar applications.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as LSIT or Certified Survey Technician (CST), may be a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • Work Environment: Work primarily in an office environment.
  • Fieldwork: Occasional fieldwork may be required, including outdoor surveying tasks.
