About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Technician III to join our team. As a Survey Technician III, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to land surveying, including reviewing and creating survey maps, performing field work measurements, and determining right of way limits or property boundaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and create survey maps and legal documents
  • Perform field work measurements for construction, topographic, or boundary surveys
  • Determine right of way limits or property boundaries
  • Create and maintain parcels using GIS software
  • Perform calculations or analysis related to land survey activities
Requirements
  • 15 semester (23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in civil engineering, engineering construction technology, or a closely related field
  • 2 years of technical land surveying, GIS, civil engineering, or closely related work experience
  • Option 1: 2 years of experience performing tasks such as analyzing, creating, or reviewing survey related maps, utilizing GIS to map or index various types of land records, applying land surveying formulas, theories, and practices to analyze work products produced by professional land surveyors, or applying civil engineering formulas, theories, and practices to construction, alteration, demolition, installation, or repair work
  • Option 2: 5 years of experience equivalent to an Equipment Operator III in San Bernardino County, with responsibility for leading work crews operating heavy construction equipment in a variety of roadway, flood control maintenance, and construction projects
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering construction technology, GIS, geomatics, land surveying, or a closely related field
  • Experience with computer-aided drafting and design, geographic information systems, producing or maintaining GIS data, creating web-enabled GIS maps, using desktop GIS software, creating GIS databases, or other spreadsheets and databases
