As a Culinary Services Supervisor, you will be part of the Food and Nutrition Services department, responsible for overseeing food service personnel, room service ambassadors, and call center representatives. This role reports to the Patient Services Supervisor and the Patient Services Manager. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring timely and efficient meal delivery to all patient areas.
- Addressing customer and guest concerns promptly, both in person and via electronic communication.
- Monitoring and participating in the overall sanitation and safety of the department in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assisting in the preparation of work schedules and conducting performance evaluations for staff.
- Training new hires and ensuring ongoing training for current employees on policies, procedures, and equipment.
- Notifying management of any food shortages or equipment issues, taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree (preferably in Nutrition, Hospitality, or Culinary Arts) is preferred.
Certification as a Dietary Manager or a Nutrition/Dietetic Technician is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in food service management, ideally in a high-volume restaurant, hospital, hotel, or room service setting.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Food Service Manager certification is required within the first year of employment. Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) or as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding employee and patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
Strong mathematical, reasoning, and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, equipment operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
Proficiency in safely operating all kitchen equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a culturally diverse workforce.
Critical thinking abilities.
