Moffitt Cancer Center seeks a driven and experienced Senior Foundation Relations Officer to join our dedicated fundraising team. This role is crucial in securing vital funding from independent and corporate grant-making foundations to support Moffitt's groundbreaking research initiatives, particularly those focused on health equity.

As a frontline fundraiser, you will cultivate relationships with key stakeholders within the foundation sector, identifying and pursuing funding opportunities that align with Moffitt's strategic priorities. Your expertise in grant writing and proposal development will be instrumental in securing substantial awards to advance our mission of cancer research and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and nurture a robust portfolio of grant-making foundations aligned with Moffitt's research and community health programs. This includes conducting thorough prospect research, identifying funding opportunities, and creating a strategic roadmap for solicitations.
  • Spearhead the identification and pursuit of funding opportunities from large corporate and independent foundations. Conduct in-depth research to match Moffitt's needs with potential funders, secure meetings with key decision-makers, and craft compelling grant proposals that effectively communicate our impact.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Institutional and Membership Giving to support the George Edgecomb Society, a group of dedicated donors who champion Moffitt's mission. This includes presenting fundraising updates at quarterly meetings, engaging with donor prospects identified by committee members, and coordinating communication efforts with the Foundation's donor communications team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with grant-making institutions. Ensure timely and transparent reporting on project progress and spending, fostering ongoing engagement and trust. Actively seek opportunities to connect new foundations with Moffitt's impactful work.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Foundation Relations team and Moffitt's research administration department. Ensure compliance with all relevant grant-related processes, facilitate communication between researchers and funders, and coordinate reporting requirements for foundation grants.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of five years of proven success in frontline fundraising, specifically within the Foundation and Corporate Foundation sectors
  • Demonstrated track record of securing grants exceeding six figures
  • Experience working in large organizations within the Healthcare or Higher Education sectors
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Office of Sponsored Research and research administration teams
  • Strong commitment to meeting financial goals and driving fundraising success
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and persuasive interactions with senior executives, board members, and other key stakeholders
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively self-manage progress towards ambitious fundraising targets
  • Collaborative team player, dedicated to achieving shared goals and delivering exceptional results
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience raising funds for medical research or community health projects
  • Existing relationships with established grant-making foundations
  • Knowledge of and experience within the health equity fundraising sector
