Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnician to join our team in the Histology Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately processing surgical pathology specimens, including processing, embedding, and microtomy of all surgical tissues. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills, knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information System, and the ability to assess data reflective of patients' status and age-specific needs.

Responsibilities
  • Process, embed, and microtomy of all surgical tissues
  • Cryotomy and frozen section staining
  • Routine H&E and special staining
  • High complexity testing such as immunohistochemistry
  • Gross examination/tissue processing of surgical biopsies
  • Equipment maintenance and record retention
  • Training staff
  • Knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information System
Requirements
  • Associate of Science degree from an accredited college/university in histology, biology, or a related field
  • One year of histology experience or successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histology Program
  • HT (ASCP) certification or eligibility to be received within one year of hire
