About the Role

HonorHealth is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at Shea Medical Center. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in the laboratory functions, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of histology tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
  • Responsible for quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of laboratory functions.
  • Actively learn to troubleshoot and resolve problems and document corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations as applicable.
  • Actively participate in laboratory programs established for the purpose of maintaining/improving the quality of laboratory services, individual growth, and safety in the work environment.
Specific Tasks
  • Microtomy - creates adequate histologic sections with proper leveling between each section applied onto glass slides.
  • Embeds tissue using correct orientation and positioning for sectioning.
  • Assists with IHC activities and retrieves slides and/or blocks from request.
  • Performs recuts and additional stains including special and immunohistochemistry stains, as requested by a Pathologist.
  • Performs and documents instrument and equipment maintenance and learns troubleshooting on all equipment to ensure proper operation.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
