The Alabama Data Scholars initiative is designed to provide high school students with essential data skills training and internship opportunities, thereby enhancing economic competitiveness in Alabama, particularly in rural and underserved areas. This program, developed by QuantHub and supported by Innovate Alabama, integrates with our K12 data literacy software to prepare students for careers in data analytics, data science, and artificial intelligence, while also nurturing a skilled workforce within the state.

The intern selected for this role will play a vital part in advancing the Alabama Data Scholars program during its subsequent year. Reporting to the Program Manager, the intern will collaborate with other members of the QuantHub Education Team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in recruiting students, with a focus on outreach to rural schools and communication with educators.
  • Guide students through the internship application process and support them in resume development.
  • Organize and facilitate webinars.
  • Develop a communications toolkit and streamline communication processes.
  • Create guidebooks and resources for mentors and interns.
  • Design infographics and data visualizations for program storytelling and reporting.
  • Draft proposals for new Data Scholars Alumni initiatives and long-term tracking.
  • Support the Program Manager and the QuantHub Education Team with additional tasks as required.
Learning Opportunities:
  • Gain insights into internship program design and development.
  • Acquire skills in project coordination and program management.
  • Learn data analysis, visualization, and storytelling techniques.
  • Understand K12 student recruitment, mentoring, and success strategies.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with generative AI tools and process automation (willingness to learn is essential).
  • Background in coordinating internships or similar student work-based learning programs.

  • Knowledge of education and workforce development in Alabama.
  • Strong networking skills and an active LinkedIn presence.
  • Prior experience in sales, recruiting, strategic partnerships, or fundraising.
