The Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care delivers comprehensive health services to around 157,000 Veterans across a 21-county region in southeastern North Carolina. The Fayetteville VAMC operates as a general medicine, surgery, and mental health facility, classified as a Complexity level 2 medical center, with authorization for 58 general medical, surgical, and mental health beds, as well as a 69-bed long-term care unit.

Responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner (including but not limited to):
  • Accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient health issues, including the prescription of both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments.
  • The role encompasses, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Advanced practice registered nursing grounded in knowledge and skills acquired through advanced education, training, and experience.
    • Conducting thorough patient assessments and diagnoses.
    • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, and performing them when necessary.
    • Administering treatments and utilizing appropriate medical devices to enhance health outcomes.
    • Providing palliative and end-of-life care.
    • Delivering advanced counseling, patient education, health promotion, and advocacy.
Qualifications for the Nurse Practitioner:
  • Master's degree in nursing is required.
  • Current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia is necessary.
  • Certification by the AANP is mandatory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from an American Heart Association recognized provider are essential.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.
