Job Title: Mechanical Equipment Assistant

Under direct supervision during a designated shift, this role involves performing manual tasks to support the operation and upkeep of assigned machinery in a sewage treatment facility, pumping station, or power generation site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the management, adjustment, repair, and lubrication of designated mechanical systems within a water reclamation facility and/or pumping station.
- Applying lubricants to mechanical systems such as pumps, blowers, fans, valves, and conveyors.
- Monitoring the operational status of equipment, executing minor modifications and repairs, and notifying the supervisor of any irregularities.
- Documenting and logging meter, gauge, and chart readings while maintaining operational records.
Additional Duties:
- Transporting lubricants and tools throughout the water reclamation facility and pumping station.
- Cleaning designated equipment and workspaces, carrying out routine maintenance tasks.
- Changing oil, collecting samples, and managing lubricant storage containers.
- Executing other assigned tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with high-pressure stationary boilers and the lubrication needs of equipment.
- Awareness of safety protocols, occupational risks, and the capacity to adhere to instructions.
- Ability to accurately read and document various meters, gauges, and charts.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with two years of experience in engine or boiler room operations.
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
- One year of experience as a Turbine Laborer or Maintenance Laborer A within the District.
- Civil service status in the previously mentioned roles.
