As part of a dynamic and dedicated team of specialists and engineers, you will lead the development of manufacturing process requirements and standards for the organization. Embedded within the manufacturing teams, you will assist in formulating and supporting standards, processes, tools, and specifications related to design for manufacturability, process development, execution, communication, training, and documentation. Furthermore, you will serve as a mediator among various and sometimes conflicting interests to optimize organizational efficiency. Your contributions will impact all facets of manufacturing process creation, testing, and analysis.
We seek an individual who can leverage their technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and commitment to quality to enhance the safety of human spaceflight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, document, and train on manufacturing processes.
- Transform and broaden best practices into company-wide standards and specifications.
- Create tools to promote design for manufacturability and assembly (DfMA) in products.
- Advocate for producibility within the gated review process by developing artifact templates and guidance.
- Serve as the organization-wide expert on the supported processes and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- Experience in defining, developing, deploying, and qualifying processes.
- Expertise in guiding technicians and engineers through process development and execution.
- Effective communication skills, demonstrating clarity and humility with stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities to oversee and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that cultivate positive professional relationships.
- Experience utilizing lean manufacturing techniques for problem-solving.
- Solid understanding of common fabrication and integration processes, including machining, welding, sheet-metal bending, lifting/rigging, assembly, and inspection.
- Commitment to world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication.
- Passion for spaceflight and exploration.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee or asylee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of professional engineering experience.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards.
- Excellent technical writing, grammar, and presentation skills.
- Experience in risk assessment, management, and mitigation.
- Background in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle systems.
Compensation Range:
For applicants in Washington, the compensation range is $146,644.50 - $205,302.30.
