Key Responsibilities
  • Record Management
    • Accurately maintain patient medication profiles in the Cerner system, ensuring 100% compliance with MD orders.
    • Develop proficiency in pharmacy information systems, including troubleshooting and clarifying orders, with a focus on resolving problems promptly and efficiently.
    • Notify clinical pharmacists when orders are placed in the clinical queue.
    • Display initiative in preventing, identifying, and resolving pharmacy-related patient care problems in a timely manner.
  • Consultation
    • Provide appropriate adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonatal patient care after assessing and interpreting patient data and needs.
    • Offer concise, applicable, comprehensive, and timely responses to requests for drug information to patients and healthcare providers, with a focus on preventing complaints.
  • Compounding & Dispensing Medication
    • Fill medications correctly during the filling process, providing supervision as needed in accordance with established guidelines.
    • Weigh, measure, and compound medications accurately using appropriate tools and equipment, with a focus on minimizing errors and ensuring supervision as needed.
    • Dispense scheduled medications correctly and return them to the Narcotic Vault 100% of the time, as evidenced by reports.
  • Ensures Quality and Cost Effectiveness
    • Fill medications correctly and accurately label them, making them available to patients in a timely manner 100% of the time.
    • Make approved Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee substitutions when applicable at the point of order entry 100% of the time.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Participate in projects as needed.
    • Complete other assigned projects.
Qualifications
  • Up to 1 year of experience.
  • Current license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy (RPH).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on creative analytical thinking and personal judgment to accomplish goals.
