The expected annual salary range for this role is $ $ a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Eaton's Davenport facility is home to approximately 900 employees and is recognized as a leader in the design, development, manufacture, and delivery of aerospace mission systems components, systems, and services for both the US defense and global commercial aftermarket and OEM markets. We are a world leader in Air-to-Air Refueling technology.

Key Responsibilities:

This role involves providing technical subject matter expertise (SME) for Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) system design, qualification, and support. The Principal Aerospace Systems Engineer will develop their own strategy, direction, and priorities while crafting effective solutions that align with business needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing complex projects/programs that involve multiple components, ensuring completeness, compatibility, and compliance.
  • Identifying opportunities and connections within the organization and technical associations to enhance business performance.
  • Participating in the development and execution of AAR technical roadmaps, utilizing domain expertise to drive innovation and technology activities aligned with customer needs.
  • Acting as the engineering technical lead for AAR products, collaborating closely with site product line chief engineers.
  • Generating technical solutions and maintaining accountability for the integrity of design solutions across multiple programs.
  • Driving best practice methodologies for MSD AAR products across the aerospace sector, serving as the 'surrogate customer' for quality acceptance of all products and technical deliverables.
  • Collaborating with customers and suppliers to anticipate future needs based on a thorough understanding of current technology trends.
  • Leading Non-Advocate Reviews across Aerospace programs as required.
  • Teaching and promoting the application of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools and methods.
  • Mentoring within the engineering organization.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the aerospace or high-tech industry, focusing on new product development and sustaining support.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with aerospace, mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical components and/or systems.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to access hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and potential eligibility for a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Only candidates residing within a specified geographical area will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry with a focus on new product development and sustaining support, particularly in Air-to-Air Refueling systems.
  • Active involvement in aerospace-related professional organizations.
  • DFSS Greenbelt certification with a development plan for Blackbelt certification.
