Job OverviewPosition Objective:

The individual in this role will be responsible for directing and supervising the execution of Del Monte's maintenance strategy. This position ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations, while also managing the maintenance workforce effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the Maintenance division while adhering to the allocated budget.
  • Implement and monitor a facility equipment maintenance and safety program to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate the repair of production floor equipment safely, in accordance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols established by Del Monte.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to maintain proper inventory levels of equipment components.
  • Identify alternative suppliers for parts replenishment when costs from current vendors become prohibitive.
  • Oversee the layout and installation of new machinery.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of shop and equipment, including preventative maintenance schedules and work orders.
  • Advise the General Manager on equipment maintenance issues and the implications of maintenance activities on equipment uptime.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate all maintenance operations and resources within the facility.
  • Conduct annual reviews and inventory assessments by equipment and department, advising the General Manager of necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor the department's testing and support equipment allocations to ensure proper maintenance and calibration.
  • Schedule and execute thorough maintenance and inspections across all commodity areas.
  • Update and manage maintenance documentation.
  • Assist in facility audits by identifying maintenance needs.
  • Establish maintenance production programs and manage Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR).
  • Coordinate with departmental managers to ensure maintenance reconciliations occur bi-weekly.
  • Oversee calibration control programs to maintain compliance and coordinate annual inventories of all Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) within the facility.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the General Manager and Engineering promptly, addressing any issues to prevent delays.
  • Communicate equipment requirements and necessary repairs to the production team, allowing for adjustments to production schedules.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work, including predictive and preventive inspections on all facility equipment and grounds as needed.
  • Carry out minor repairs, which may include plumbing, welding, HVAC, general construction, fabrication, and electrical work.
  • Keep a daily log of all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts utilized, and inventory control matters.
  • Support special projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience with ammonia systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical wiring diagrams is required.
  • Experience with mechanical blueprints is necessary.
  • Familiarity with multimeter tools is required.
  • Industrial maintenance experience is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Maintenance/Facility and Preventative Maintenance Program management is required.
  • Experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance is necessary.
  • Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) are essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance troubleshooting and repair is required.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and work from ladders up to 10 feet high.
  • Must possess a standard set of hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Experience with PC spreadsheet and database applications is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods is required.
  • Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, bending, or crawling into tight spaces.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC) is preferred.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for refrigeration duties is advantageous.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
