Job OverviewObjective of the Role:

This role is responsible for overseeing and directing the execution of Del Monte's maintenance strategy. The individual will ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, manage maintenance personnel, and facilitate effective maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Maintenance division within the allocated budget.
  • Implement and monitor the facility's equipment maintenance and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Safely expedite repairs on production equipment while adhering to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to establish effective inventory management for equipment components.
  • Identify alternative sources for parts replenishment when costs from current suppliers become prohibitive.
  • Oversee the layout and installation of new machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of shop activities, including preventative maintenance schedules and work orders.
  • Provide guidance to the General Manager regarding equipment maintenance and its impact on operational efficiency.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate all maintenance activities and resources within the facility.
  • Conduct annual reviews and inventory assessments by equipment and department, advising the General Manager on necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure the department's support and testing equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Schedule and execute thorough maintenance inspections across all commodity areas.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date.
  • Assist in facility audits by identifying maintenance needs.
  • Establish maintenance production programs and Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR).
  • Coordinate with department heads to ensure maintenance reconciliations occur bi-weekly.
  • Oversee calibration control programs to maintain compliance and manage annual inventories of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
  • Complete tasks assigned by the General Manager and Engineering promptly, addressing any issues to prevent delays.
  • Communicate equipment requirements and necessary repairs to the production team to allow for adjustments in production schedules.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed, including predictive and preventive inspections on all facility equipment and grounds.
  • Conduct minor repairs, which may encompass plumbing, welding, HVAC, general construction, fabrication, and electrical work.
  • Maintain a daily log of all maintenance activities, including repairs performed and parts utilized.
  • Assist with special projects as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience with ammonia systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical wiring diagrams is required.
  • Experience with mechanical blueprints is necessary.
  • Familiarity with multimeter tools is required.
  • Background in industrial maintenance is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Maintenance/Facility and Preventative Maintenance Program management is required.
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance is necessary.
  • Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance troubleshooting and repair is required.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work from ladders up to 10 feet high.
  • Must possess a standard set of hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Experience with PC-based spreadsheet and database applications is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be physically capable of climbing ladders and navigating confined spaces.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems is preferred.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for refrigeration tasks is advantageous.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
