Job Summary

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Classroom Teacher to join our team. As a Classroom Teacher, you will be responsible for providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with all stakeholders, including students, parents, colleagues, and administrators, to establish and maintain leadership and positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
  • Instructional Design: Design instruction, including lesson plans and individualized instruction, to ensure all students are engaged and participating in individual and classroom learning objectives.
  • Student Learning and Development: Develop and guide learning in partnership with students, including classroom mission and learning goals, strategies and processes, and student recognition and celebrations, to ensure continuous improvement for student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
  • Evaluation and Assessment: Evaluate individual student and class performance, including analyzing assessment data and other comparative data, to gauge and subsequently adjust instruction to improve individual and class performance.
  • Classroom Management: Implement current best practice instruction and resources, including focus on student needs and goals, classroom priorities, and positive classroom culture, to improve and enhance student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain documentation and required reports, including student data and reports, personal teaching certification, and other relevant information, to comply with site, district, policy, administrative, state, and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Classroom Structure and Procedures: Manage classroom structure and procedures, including activities, behavioral expectations, and positive classroom culture, to establish a positive, safe, and orderly optimal learning environment to support students in achieving classroom and individual goals.
  • Professional Conduct and Behavior: Model positive behaviors, including professional and ethical public image, relational skills, including appropriate verbal and written communications, manners, and honors diversity and mutual respect, to promote appropriate social and interpersonal behavior in alignment with district goals.
  • Supervision and Support: Oversees assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers to ensure the operation of an effective and efficient classroom structure that supports the teacher and students in achieving classroom and individual goals.
  • Meetings and Communication: Participate in a variety of meetings, including team and/or building meetings, professional growth opportunities, parent/teacher conferences, and other relevant meetings, to convey and/or gather information to perform functions.
  • Emergency Situations: Respond to emergency situations, including building emergency protocol, fights, suspected child abuse and/or substance abuse, and other relevant situations, to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
