Electrical Field Test Specialist with NETA Certification

ABM Industries is in search of an experienced Electrical Field Test Specialist (NETA Level 3, 4, or equivalent) to enhance our Electrical Power Services division. This role involves the safe and effective installation and assessment of electrical power distribution systems for our clientele within the designated region. The position requires approximately 25% travel, where you will operate both autonomously and collaboratively with a team, managing a variety of routine, moderately complex, and intricate tasks and projects. Responsibilities include meticulous record-keeping, analyzing test data, and preparing comprehensive field service documentation.
Compensation Details
Salary Range: $135,000-$166,000 base salary.
The compensation mentioned reflects the salary range for this role. Actual offers will depend on the candidate's experience, skills, capabilities, geographic location, and market alignment.

Key Responsibilities
- Travel to client locations to evaluate, test, troubleshoot, initiate, and gather data on electrical systems.
- Oversee Trainees, Assistants, and Technicians in executing electrical testing responsibilities.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, training, and supervision to Level 1 and 2 certified NETA Trainees and Assistant Technicians.
- Monitor testing procedures, delegate tasks to qualified technicians, and ensure consistency in testing across team members.
- Track project scope completion and liaise with ABM and Customer Management.
- Maintain, test, repair, refurbish, and replace low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
- Inspect and test low, medium, and high-voltage cable installations.
- Maintain, test, and repair transformers and associated equipment.
- Test and calibrate both solid-state and electromechanical relays.
- Conduct relay calibration and power metering.
- Perform testing on low and medium-voltage motor control centers and contractors.
- Initiate, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.
- Test and commission protection and control systems in high voltage substations.
- Sample and analyze insulated fluids.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock analyses.
- Review and submit timecards, expenses, and project reports.
- Document test outcomes and finalize field reports.
- Participate in emergency on-call rotations.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory standards.
- Assist in the sales process by serving as the technical authority in electrical testing and maintenance of electrical systems.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical testing.
- Experience working collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proven track record in managing projects.
- Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards.
- Ability to diagnose electrical performance issues.
- Willingness to travel regionally 25% of the time.
- Understanding of lockout/tag-out and hazardous energy control protocols.
- Clean driving record and drug-free status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
- Possession of a current NETA Level 2, 3, or 4 certification, or NICET equivalent, or relevant experience.
