Job Title: 1st Processing General Laborer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled 1st Processing General Laborer to join our team at Butterball, LLC. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks on recently-slaughtered turkeys or tasks that support the overall operations within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect birds as they move down the line, checking for bruises, scabs, tears, feathers, broken bones, etc.
  • Trim birds as needed, removing scabs, feathers, slicing or removing bruises, and removing parts with broken bones.
  • Throw away condemned parts in a red barrel or onto the condemned parts conveyor belt.
  • Drop salvage parts onto the salvage conveyor belt.
  • Hang back birds or parts on the hang back rack as required.

Requirements:

  • Proper PPE usage, including eye protection, hearing protection, arm guard, and mesh glove.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours or more, work with scissors or knives, and grip, grasp, and twist using hands and wrists.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and hang birds as required.
  • Inspect the exterior of birds for defects and trim or remove parts as needed.

Working Conditions:

  • May work in a damp environment.
  • Seasonably hot and warm environment.
  • Work with loud and noisy machinery.
  • Work in a dusty environment.
  • Work with chemical or fumes.
  • Work around pungent odors.
