ROLE SUMMARY:
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for responding to emergency situations, evaluating patients, and delivering care in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Basic Life Support standards. The EMT will also transport patients as per established protocols and assist Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers in managing patient care. Non-emergency medical transports using ambulances and wheelchair vans are also part of the responsibilities, along with ensuring proper documentation is completed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers CPR/AED.
- Eligibility for Pennsylvania EMT certification.
- Valid Driver's License and eligibility to operate an EMS vehicle in Pennsylvania.
- Completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Training program within two months of hire.
- PA DOH EMSVO eligibility within two months of hire.
- Hazmat Awareness Training within 30 days of start date; NIMS (100, 200, 700, 800) required within 30 days of start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six months of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is preferred.
