Neurodiagnostic Technologist II Specialist

Job Summary:
This Neurodiagnostic Technologist II role is a key position in our team at Advocate Health, where you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality patient care. As a Neurodiagnostic Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing and maintaining competency in electroencephalograms, portable inpatient EEGs, and other neurodiagnostic tests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electroencephalogram (EEG) Performance: You will apply suitable electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head, check the performance of the electrodes, calibrate and adjust the test apparatus, and select both predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study.
- Patient Preparation and Examination: You will prepare patients for exams, perform exams and procedures, gather comprehensive patient histories, and explain test procedures to patients and family members.
- Test Implementation and Artifact Management: You will perform procedures according to laboratory standards, implement alternative methods, and adjust controls to obtain optimal recordings. You will also recognize patient or environmental artifacts, document, eliminate, or take proper measures to monitor them.
- Test Development and Supervision: You may devise and standardize neurodiagnostic tests for clinic use, perform Intraoperative Monitoring with supervision, and assist physicians in outpatient department clinics with Nerve Conduction Studies and EMGs.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: You will troubleshoot equipment problems, repair or report them to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements:
- Licensure and Certification: You must obtain Electroencephalographic Technologist registration (R EEG T) issued by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) within 1 year and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Education and Experience: You must be a High School Graduate with typically 2 years of experience in a Neurodiagnostic Tech role.
- Skills and Abilities: You must have excellent interpersonal and patient service skills, intermediate computer skills, and the ability to operate all necessary equipment.
Working Conditions:
- You will be required to sit, stand, walk, twist, and lift throughout the workday. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. You must also be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
