Mission Statement:

The Salvation Army is a global movement and an integral part of the universal Christian Church. Our mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and address human needs in His name without discrimination.

Basic Purpose:

The primary aim of this role is to ensure that the facilities and property of the Stockton Corps are maintained in a clean and organized manner. This includes the regular collection of food donations and fostering strong relationships with various social service organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collect food donations from local businesses and restaurants, adhering to food safety protocols.
  2. Regularly coordinate and retrieve food and bread donations.
  3. Assist with the unloading, moving, and storage of donated food items from various sources.
  4. Manage waste disposal by emptying trash and garbage containers.
  5. Perform light maintenance and minor repairs on the premises as directed by Corp Officers.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, including washing and checking fluid levels.
  7. Report any vehicle maintenance needs or safety hazards to the supervisor.
  8. Assist in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
  9. Conduct routine security checks, including locking doors and turning off lights.
  10. Immediately report any incidents of vandalism or theft to the supervisor.
  11. Restock paper supplies in restrooms and kitchen areas.
  12. Prepare food for distribution to clients according to the established schedule.
  13. Complete additional errands as directed by the Office Manager and Corp Officers, ensuring time away from the building does not exceed 30 minutes.
  14. During the holiday season, participate in activities such as kettle stand assembly and community food barrel placements as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Valid CA Driver License required.
  • Willingness to undergo training in hazardous materials handling and safety compliance.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Qualified individuals must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to drive, sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 lbs. Must possess good mobility and dexterity for various tasks.
