Position Overview
Under direct supervision, you will warmly welcome customers and assist them in a professional manner. Your primary responsibility will be to manage customer transactions at retail locations, ensuring accurate payment processing and receipt issuance.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and handle payments, providing receipts, refunds, credits, or change as necessary.
- Package customer purchases and express gratitude for their business.
- Offer product information and direct customers to the appropriate locations within the store.
- Open and close the cash register, ensuring all transactions are accurately documented and balanced.
- Approve cash refunds and issue credit notes for returned items in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while assisting in inventory management and store presentation.
- Participate in annual inventory assessments and provide support to less experienced cashiers.
Safety and Compliance
Adhere to all safety protocols to prevent injuries to yourself and colleagues. Attend safety meetings and suggest improvements to safety practices as needed.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or GED, along with two years of cashier or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Skills
- Strong customer service abilities, both in-person and over the phone.
- Good mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using cash registers.
Work Environment
This position involves both typical office settings and outdoor locations, subject to varying temperatures and weather conditions. Candidates should be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
