Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for utilizing advanced technology to merge radiopharmaceutical imaging with other forms of medical imaging for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exams, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Explain procedures to patients in clear and concise terms, based on your professional knowledge and expertise.
  • Screen patients for pregnancy and obtain consent forms for the administration of IV contrast materials.
  • Set up equipment to administer prescribed procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Position patients for scanning according to departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Perform various exams using Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT equipment.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals according to activity and quantity required for prescribed exams.
  • Dispense prescribed radiopharmaceuticals to patients for oral ingestion or administer through venipuncture and intravenous injection.
  • Dispose of radioactive waste and survey exam areas for radiation according to established protocols.
  • Prepare images/films for clinical review and assignment to records.
  • Label films/images with accurate patient demographics and required exam-specific information.
  • Assess films/images for quality and accuracy of information.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and prepare films/images for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Perform various quality control measures according to established policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
  • Current New York State Department of Health licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • R.T. (N) registration with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or CNMT registration with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Current R.T.(CT) registration with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or NMTCB (CT) certification with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification.
  • Prior experience in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
