About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our Hematology/Oncology team at Duke Raleigh Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support our medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with various tasks, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties, such as answering telephones, updating and filing patient medical records, and scheduling appointments.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician, and authorize drug refills as needed.
  • Draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, tests, and procedures, and take electrocardiograms.
Requirements
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
  • BLS Certification is also required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
  • Experience is preferred but not required.
