The Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with executing all standard cleaning, maintenance, and replenishment of supplies within designated facilities. Additional cleaning responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts all routine cleaning, maintenance, and restocking of supplies in assigned facilities.
  • Performs sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom sanitation, window washing, and other assigned tasks following established procedures. This includes various types of buildings such as offices and residence halls.
  • Disposes of waste in designated areas, sanitizes, and replaces liners in waste containers as required.
  • Responsible for detailed tasks such as polishing surfaces, dusting ledges, corners, baseboards, and furniture while respecting the privacy of individuals.
  • Adheres to recycling protocols; reports any damages or malfunctioning items in assigned areas; replaces burnt-out light bulbs.
  • Assists with cleaning and supporting special events on campus; clears snow and applies sand at building entrances, as well as participating in snow removal during winter.
  • Follows key management procedures; implements safety and technical methods as directed by supervisors.
  • Utilizes cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety data sheets to ensure property protection and personal safety.
  • Accepts additional responsibilities as required.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Minimum education level and licenses required.
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for at least one year and maintain an insurable driving record throughout employment; must complete the vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment and undergo annual reviews of the driving record based on insurance criteria.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • At least 6 months of prior cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination and OSHA compliance training are required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism while interacting with students, faculty, staff, and officials.
  • Familiarity with cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, along with the ability to operate mechanical cleaning devices.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, students, and faculty.
  • Flexibility to work independently, as part of a team, and adapt to various shifts as needed.

Working Conditions:

Willingness to work weekends, overtime, and during special events as required.

A. Physical Environment:

  • Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, precarious locations, hazardous chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Typically moderate noise levels.

B. Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, communicate, and utilize sensory perception.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly climb and/or balance up to 10 feet, and occasionally climb and/or balance up to 20 feet.
  • Regular use of close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to use hands for various tasks including handling, feeling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
