Medical Practice Patient Representative (Clerical Assistant) at Nuvance Health - Per Diem, Flexible 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday.
Role Summary:
The Medical Practice Patient Representative is responsible for delivering clerical and administrative assistance while coordinating patient care activities within the healthcare practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accuracy of patient records, including personal details and insurance information.
2. Provide a welcoming reception for patients and communicate effectively and courteously.
3. Manage incoming calls, directing them appropriately, taking messages, and ensuring clear communication.
4. Register, verify, and schedule patient appointments, tests, and referrals.
5. Handle rescheduling of appointments that were cancelled or missed.
6. Process requests for medical records, including copying, billing, and documentation.
7. Collect co-payments and ensure proper reconciliation of funds for deposit.
8. Facilitate the retrieval of medical records for both new and returning patients.
9. Conduct audits as required.
10. Manage the intake and processing of medical records and related documents via electronic means.
11. Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor.
12. Adhere to all compliance obligations associated with the role.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Proficiency in MS Outlook, data entry, and exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
Experience:
Minimum of six months in a similar role.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Practice Management Systems, experience in a medical office setting, and knowledge of MS Excel.
Compensation:
Competitive per diem rate offered.
